In this age of assembly line production and an exodus of job opportunities to overseas manufacturing, the words “Hand Crafted” and “American Made” seem to have little relevance in the production of today’s fine spirits. Presently, the making of classic American distilled spirits is largely the product of column stills spewing out millions of gallons of alcohol in an unending stream. The trend by large corporations towards acquisitions, mergers and mass production, would not be understood by the master distillers of yester-year.
Prichards’ Distillery has been producing Hand Crafted American Spirits since 1997. Our fine spirits are an accurate recreation of America’s first distilled beverages. Our rums are made from sweet American molasses from the plantations of Louisiana and our whiskies are not unlike those produced by Benjamin Prichard in Davidson County, Tennessee way back in the early 1800’s. Distilled in traditional copper pot stills using the techniques of the master distillers of an older time, Prichards’ American Spirits are most certainly, nothing like the commercially produced spirits we have come to know today.
Two Prichard's Distillery products were mentioned in the July 2011 issue of Playboy Magazine. In this now infamous issue featuring Hef's runaway bride Crystal Harris, Prichard's Crystal Rum was mentioned in an article on American Spirit Microdistilleries. Prichard's Sweet Lucy Bourbon Liqueur was also featured.
